J oseph B. is a self-taught woodworker who has been interested in art from his earliest childhood memories. Always intrigued with colors, forms, textures, and the little details of all art forms. As he grew into his teenage years, he began to want to see art in three dimensions, something you could hold, walk around, sit on, and use. Something more than just beautiful art you look at. He wanted to create art that was functional.
O ver the years he has worked for himself as well as other cabinet shops and art studios continually learning new and different techniques perfecting his talents. In 1983 he began working with artist James Schriber in New Milford, CT. During the next 13 years Joseph B. was able to hone his skills as a creative designer & master craftsman, working on beautiful pieces of functional art for James.
T hen in 1996, ready for a new challenge, Joseph B. moved to Wilmington, NC and began his own studio furniture making business. He has dreamed, designed, and created some of the most amazing pieces of functional art. From his simplest designs to his most complex, each piece has a certain flare and beauty that speaks effortlessly about his talents and abilities.

"T he pieces of art that I create have all begun with a dream. As an artist I believe that every dream has a need attached to it. For me, that's where the process begins, with a dream. Often times, early in the morning I have specific visions of an artistic piece. These dreams force me awake, and I begin sketching thoughts, ideas, and possibilities for new art. I've found over the years that all of the ideas that come from my dreams are often a direct expression of who I am as a person. This is my passion, my love. Every piece of art I create, from the dimensions, to the texture, the color, and the form, is a representation of who I am. Dreaming, designing, planning, building, and creating- that is where I find the true beauty of art."
